Programme Overview
The public sector plays a pivotal role in shaping the well-being and prosperity of society. Public sector organisations are tasked with addressing complex challenges, from delivering essential services to driving social change and fostering economic stability. The managers within these organisations serve as the conduits, ensuring that policies are effectively translated into action. However, the increasingly multifaceted and high-pressure environment of the public sector demands exceptional leadership and management skills—skills that can be significantly enhanced through a structured mentoring programme.
Elevate, our programme for those with a background in the public sector, is designed to equip coaches with the tools, insights, and strategies necessary to support public sector managers in their professional growth. The programme underscores the critical importance of the public sector, the unique challenges its leaders face, and the transformative power of effective coaching and mentoring.
Elevate is a group programme taught in small cohorts of 1:4. The sessions are bi-weekly on a day/time decided by the cohort.
The Importance Of The Public Sector
The public sector’s influence extends across every aspect of society. It encompasses a wide array of services, from healthcare and education to infrastructure development and environmental protection. These services are fundamental to improving quality of life, reducing inequalities, and fostering a sense of community. In this context, public sector leaders are entrusted with decisions that have far-reaching implications. Their ability to inspire teams, allocate resources efficiently, and adapt to changing circumstances is essential to achieving organisational goals and meeting societal needs.
Moreover, the public sector often operates under increasingly intense scrutiny, with stakeholders ranging from policymakers and taxpayers to service beneficiaries. This heightened accountability, rapidly increasing demand pressures, and continually changing political aspirations, set against a financial backdrop of reducing financial resources, create a dynamic and challenging environment for all staff and managers. These realities support the need for robust support systems to help public sector leaders navigate complexities, maintain resilience, foster innovation and encourage adaptative leadership. These are all factors that well-positioned mentoring programmes are uniquely positioned to fulfil – delivered by you.

The Background
Sarah Clein and John Gilbert are Coaching Revolution mentors. They both have a public sector background and have businesses that deliver services to the public sector.
Sarah and John know exactly how it feels to be where you are right now. To be deeply committed to public service but recognise that the current way of working isn’t sustainable..
- The constant pressure in a system that is creaking with ever-growing demand and ever-reducing resources.
- The moral injury of knowing what the best job looks like while not always being able to support your teams to deliver this.
- Leading in the sector you love and are loyal to, while knowing that you are putting work first and yourself way down the list at times.
We’ve helped dozens of senior public sector professionals successfully transition into consulting and coaching roles where they:
- Maintain their positive influence
- Work with clear boundaries
- Create sustainable incomes
- Preserve their professional integrity and values
We’ve taken the knowledge and experience of this teaching and, together with the decades of knowledge and experience of the public sector that Sarah and John bring, built Elevate.
Our mission is to show you that this transition isn’t just possible – it’s happening successfully every day. All you need is the right guidance and support.
Imagine Being Able To:
- Choose which projects you take on and who you work with
- Set clear boundaries that protect your time and energy
- Package your expertise in a way that truly helps organisations and individuals
- Build a sustainable income doing meaningful work
